SodaStream Source by Bill Kincaid
Recently, I've been imbibing a great deal of grapefruit infused Perrier carbonated spring water. This is because I'm looking for a drink that helps me feel satiated while I'm dieting to shed those few stubborn pounds. Besides, the bubbles and the grapefruit flavor make hydration more enjoyable and interesting.
Only problem is, I'm being inundated with empty litre plastic bottles that I need to return to the super market and from what I understand from the Snoop Dogg commercial, I'm doing my part to save the planet.
Ergo, I began to look for an alternative to commercial sparkling bottled water and the SodaStream Source seemed to fit the bill. It ain't craft beer, but it is craft sparkling water which is pretty sweet. I jumped on the SodaStream bandwagon.
So, apparently, the SodaStream Source is being phased out in favor of having a lower-priced entry-level model called the "Fizzi" and higher-end ones called Fizzi One Touch, and Sodastream Crystal, at least here in Canada. Please see link:
When I unboxed my SodaStream Source, it contained three necessary items to get me making sparkling water in no time:
* The carbonation machine powered by its own onboard 3-V lithium battery.
* A full 60 L CO2 bottle which makes the magic happen. (There is a CO2 bottle exchange program for the empties).
* And a PET recyclable rigid plastic carbonation bottle.
Set-up was easy, requiring you to place the carbonator unit on a stable surface like a kitchen table/counter; popping off the back cover to reveal the port for the CO2 bottle to be fastened; and then actually threading the CO2 bottle into the port.
Then comes the fun part: actually carbonating your bottle of (filtered) water. Please click on below video link for a short demo of the SodaStream Source Sparkling Water Machine (Note the carbonation level LEDs):

SodaStream also has a wide array of water flavorings and syrups you can combine to upgrade your carbonated beverage. I tried the non-caffeinated, zero cal cola syrup and it tastes awesome -- almost like diet Pepsi or similar. I am also trying the pink grapefruit syrup and it, too, is tasty and slakes the thirst when combined in the right proportion with your carbonated water.
I've ordered more syrups from Amazon and they are on the way.
No doubt about it, I am a new convert to this sparkling water craze and you may become one too when you try one of the line of SodaStream water carbonators.
However, you'd better hurry to grab one of these Source machines, since, as I said above, SodaStream is no longer marketing them in 2021.
I purchased mine on sale at LondonDrugs.com . And if you live in Canada you may be able to purchase from them, too.
Here's to my new found carbonated beverage machine. Cheers!
